Orkney Origins is an easy-to-use augmented reality travel app from Living Popups that uses brochure and GPS-enabled field modes to present 16 animated, informative scenes across the islands—great for casual tourists but limited by sparse reviews and no published privacy details,

The Orkney Origins Augmented Reality tour presents 16 sights across the Orkney archipelago, from the streets of Stromness to the Ring of Brodgar. Pointing a smartphone at the brochure pages triggers characters to emerge from the page, offering insights into the sights along with witty commentary.

Interaction is straightforward: scan the area with your device, and when a blue portal appears, tap the screen to reveal the characters. An in-app menu lets you skip ahead to later scenes.
